a.a. u have done a great job. i have some confusion in unit 26 . the example , u have presented there " can you cook " is ability . but if i say someone" can she cook" otherwise i know she can,but might be possible she refuse for some reason-. then what will be the differene in ability or possibility. how can we judge that the speaker is asking about ability or possibility?
You already answered your own question.

When you already know that someone can cook and then you are asking if he/she can cook it means that you are asking about the possibility of cooking. (She may be busy, she may have to go somewhere, somebody might be visiting her)and that's why she could not cook.

very well explained the difference and usage of past simple and present perfect.

she was mad, he was healthy. he was among bad people.
these sentences belong to past tense but specify just a state or a condition of a thing or a person just like a simple present tense. is it right? and that's why time or adverb of time doesn't mention?
